Paper Picker Press Workshop
Friday, April 30: 2-4 PM

Explore literature as recyclable material with the Paper Picker Press. We invite you to a hands-on presentation/demonstration of the arts-based literacy program inspired by creative responses to economic crises in Latin America: the Paper Picker Press (PPP).

PPP is an instructional program for people of all ages that promotes higher order thinking through hands-on engagement with literature. Participants will engage in activities that aim to enhance critical and creative thinking skills, as they become "authors" of artistic interventions into challenging texts.

Let's engage in re-writing, re-interpreting and re-discovering literature as recyclable material with the Paper Picker Press workshop!

This is an opportunity for those who know the program and want to share the experience with friends, family and colleagues.

"Rethinking Dickinson" Workshops
SATURDAYS, MARCH 6, 13, 20
10AM - 1PM

Words and wordplay figure prominently in the work of Roni Horn, especially the words of 19th-century Massachusetts poet Emily Dickinson. The artist has said of Dickinson’s simple yet powerful writing, “[you] read again as if you had never read her before [and] somehow the work never becomes familiar.” The ICA and Cultural Agents Initiative at Harvard University offer educators an opportunity to rethink Dickinson’s literary works using interdisciplinary strategies and approaches—performing, visual, and literary. Participants will approach classic texts as recyclable material in a series of workshops that develop creativity and critical thinking to empower today’s classrooms and communities.

Materials Fee: $15. Registration is required; please e-mail teachers@icaboston.org or call 617-478-3178. Earn 9 Professional Development Points (PDPs) for successful completion of this three-day workshop.
